This is a short video of a recent hike along the ridge a top the Sandia Mountains in central New Mexico. Sandia means watermelon in Spanish. The name comes from the color of the mountain at sunset. The peak is 10,678 feet high. Since the city of Albuquerque is already at about 5200 feet it is about 5500 feet to the city below. The wind was crisp and cool on this early October day. The visibility was great. If you look off to the far horizon you can see the faint outline of Mt. Taylor 100 miles away.
Standing a top this peak puts it all in perspective for me. The vastness of the space swallows up my petty concerns of the day as I lose myself in the expanse. I encourage everyone to get outside and experience the beauty and amazement that can be found in the natural world.
Peace to all.

Such beautiful lands in that area and I love hearing the birds at the end
