Human to the rescue

Human to the rescue? Yes! Isn’t that an oxymoron? Mmmmm, not quite. Let me explain myself.

I’ve went fishing 🎣 quite a few times. I remember fishing, primitively, with a stick, string, staple, and worm for bait. I’d catch fish ALL THE TIME! That was as a kid in Congo. Since I left Congo for America, the only thing I’ve caught is a turtle. So, I gave up fishing.

A few days ago, I went for a walk with a friend of mine, who’s also a great photographer. Upon reaching the trail of DOLL HEAD TRAIL, we saw a family fishing, and they caught....a turtle! The turtle had the hook thru his mouth and was obviously in great pain. The family did not know what to do, you can’t put your fingers in a turtle’s mouth, unless you have no use for them.

I, not being a vet, took the turtle and examined it. After about 6 minutes of gently trying to remove the hook, it finally came out, to the relief of humans and the turtle. I gently put him back in the same water and told him not to be so quick to bite everything. Humans came to the rescue for him this time; if he doesn’t listen to my advice, I’m afraid he might end up a key ingredient, turtle soups is a staple in the south.
