Common or Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) taken at Flinders Pier, Victoria, Australia.
Weedy Seadragon's like their Leafy cousins are endemic to Southern Australian waters. The leaf shaped appendages & cryptic colouration provide superb camouflage for them to hide from predators & hunt for small crustaceans & mysids.
These fish grow to around 30 cm & are closely related to Seahorses & Pipefish.
