The steep floor and the narrow dimensions of the plot have determined the shape of the building that rises in this valley and mountainous environment, to finally align with the surrounding traditional dwellings and the natural context.
This secondary house of a family of four, consists of 3 volumes that can clearly be defined as the volume of the living space and kitchen, the circulation tower and the volume of sleep and storage. The main material chosen is the local stone. The experience of the Cycladic landscape is the main concern of the design expressed by the spatial evolution and the relationship of the building with the natural environment. The house includes in its design a floor heating system that is generated by the solar radiators installed on the roof. Cooling is achieved by cross ventilation and additional cooling of the subfloor. Finally, rainwater is collected in the roofs and stored in an underground tank.
