I wonder who will come for dinner? Can I tempt them with a little Lard? It's is the main meal, so full of warmth giving protein. It's going to be a cold night so let's see who comes ..
Little Wax eyes or Silver eyes LOVE LARD
Next up is a Starling
It's objecting to sharing
Sparrows always gatecrash !
He's outnumbered now
The Heavyweight has arrived...all the others leave,
This little block of Lard supplies the birds of the neighborhood with food for four days. Don't forget to put some out this winter, you will be so happy you did.
All photo's are original and taken from our deck
Mmm, I like lard too, it makes the best roast veges. So I'm not sharing my 100% organic pork lard. Though the other reason is we don't want to put temptation in front of our large four legged flossy.
Yes! And Yorkshire pudding . Very wise not sharing that awesome sounding pork lard. Is flossy a cat by chance?
None for me but thank you. I did not know that it would attract birds. Thanks!
Those birds are going nuts for that hunk of fat :o
I know !! Cant stop watching them. Thanks so much for commenting :)

What a fabulous idea. I'm assuming it's best to be sure it's 100% lard.
Yes I just get it from the supermarket. No good putting it out in the Summer as it will melt haha. Thank you for stopping by :)
Actually the tub says dripping am pretty sure they are one and the same?
pretty much. drippings are produced by catching the fat when the pork meat is cooked. Rendered lard is from a high temp reduction of just the fat trimmings. Both have to be filtered to remove meat bits in order to delay spoilage.
Since we no longer eat pork, we sometimes render beef fat into tallow but it's best done in a cast iron dutch oven ... And ours got
stolenlost in the last move.I'm supposing the birds would be just as happy with tallow.
Dear ToDo list, please add, "replace dutch oven"
Aww thats' not good!! I hope you can find another dutch oven. Thanks for the breakdown, I really appreciate that.
thanks and you're welcome :)
Great pictures of the birds dining on lard in a yard! :)

Wow I love the photo's. They are very nice and crisp, you must have had to use a little tripod for that? Great work and thankyou for sharing. You should be proud of those photo's!
Hey thanks so much @silvernova. Yes a little tripod is super handy !!!! I had to haul it back a bit and not post so many pics, so it was a hard choice haha. Am loving following you and the others on Steemlords. You guys are writing some crazy stories. I am definitely staying tuned. Thanks again
