That it is not a pussycat. You can’t pet it like a dog. If it gets a chance, it will kill you without any regret. A friend of my grandfather killed a tigress in Sunderbans and brought its baby home to keep it as a pet. It was a prestige possession to him. Soon it grew bigger and started killing dogs. So, that gentleman had to lock it up in a cage. But the tiger was as cunning as any other big cat. It broke out of its cage one evening, killed his owner (his mother was avenged, if you are a fan of subcontinent movies by any chance) and fled. It took refuge in a nearby jungle and started living on domestic animals. So, the hunters of the village tried to kill it by setting up baits. But you don’t mess with a tiger if the only thing you ever hunted are birds and deer. Two other gentlemen got killed in this process and the tiger got to taste human flesh. Finding no other way, the villagers had to hire professional hunters to kill it.
Finally, one veteran hunter could kill the tiger. An innocent animal had to lose its life. It was all a single person’s fault. It is always better to let tigers live in their own habitat.
If you really want one like this at home, make sure to get proper training beforehand.
