What kind of mindset causes someone to out into the deep forest in the middle of a heatwave during the highest risk fire season of the year to light off fireworks - which are illegal anyway.

I read that these people were teenagers. That's exactly the kind of mindset. I feel so down about this awful disaster, esp because Portland used to be my home. It is a true tragedy. The thing is, it isn't on fire because of those fireworks, really. It was going to happen. The climate is changing and no one is actually doing anything about it. Those kids probably figured their behavior was normal because wildfires in that area should not be common. If it wasn't them this time, it would be someone else or some other cause in a few years.

The world is changing, our earth is changing, and we have to adapt. These are probably just the beginning of the fires that will happen there. The beginning of massive hurricanes destroying huge cities. I think the media should not be scapegoating those kids in this situation of the fires in the Gorge, and instead point to the truth. Climate change is the cause. Ignoring that fact to scapegoat teenagers seems off, and not a solution to a really large problem :(

So, so sad that such beauty has been destroyed :((((
