Kayaking The Inner Great Barrier Reef

in #nature7 years ago

Recently I wrote a small article on Kayaking with the Turtles off Double Island (located just off Palm Cove beach in the Far North of Queensland, Australia).  This place is my work and my play.  I am truly blessed to have this as my backyard.

Each morning we run kayak tours out of Palm Cove and arrive at the closest part of the Great Barrier Reef to mainland Australia.

The images above are taken with our Phantom 3  drone.  That is me in the single kayak, and in the double kayaks are my fortunate guests.

For me, heading out is a normal activity, but for my guests it really quite often is the experience of a lifetime.  They get to be at one with nature and experience the wonders of the reef close up and without buzzing engines.

Just thought I would share this with you all. :)

Beautiful! Nature is a wonder.

OMG I’m so jealous now!
I have a 4.5m kayak (old RTM Tempo) I use to fish offshore but it has been months since I’ve used it due to a rotator cuff tear. I need to wait a bit more for it to heal, then start strengthening it before launching again. But this place of yours is just magnificent.

They are a good kayak. We use the same style of kayaks on our tours. Yes its a great place we live in. My favourite parts of the tour are going in the cave and sitting off the east side of the island spotting turtles. Its a bit windy for the next week though. We can still run the tours when its like this but we just do down winders. Thanks for the upvote!
