Go on a Picnic Date ✅

It was Saturday afternoon when we drove 20 km north from Mandaue (Cebu). My girlfriend and I have a list of dates we want to go on for this year and one of them was to go on a Picnic Date. The list has about 12 items on it and half of it has been checked already. It's a great way to make plans with your partner. Sometimes, it can be difficult to think about what you can do as a couple. We made the list early in the year and it's composed of the things we want to do individually, but also want to share with each other.

I forgot whose idea was it to go on a picnic date but both of us were equally excited about it. We chose a park up north called Cascades Nature Park because it featured wide grass fields, big trees, a swimming pool, and a lagoon.

For the date to be a picnic date, I bought a picnic mat (the red and white checkered mat you see in the movies). We brought our own food, and some snacks and drinks.

We arrived a bit late in the afternoon already and the park was closing early because it had been booked for an event. We decided to make the most of our time by exploring the lagoon. A nearby rivered filled the small lake, which was surrounded by luscious greenery.

After taking a stroll around the lagoon, we made our way back to the grass fields. We unfolded our picnic mat and laid our food on it. We ate under the shade of a big tree while listening to the sound of soft wind gushing and the chirping of the birds.

After eating, we laid down on the mat, chatted for a while, and took a delicious nap. I woke up to the sun hitting my face and the sound of people milling around. The sun had moved and the leaves of the big tree were no longer fully covering us. The guests for the event were also slowly pouring in. We took our time waking ourselves up and enjoyed the rest of that Saturday afternoon picnic date.

We got up, folded our mat, cleaned up our food, and took a few more moments of peace and tranquility before returning back to the city.
