Amazon pink Dolphin
Characteristics, what he eats and where he lives
Today I bring you a little about the wildlife of one of the most loved mammals by all, the dolphin, but this is something peculiar because it is rubbed color and does not live in the sea, lives in the Amazon river and dependent rivers, this intelligent companion is small eyes with a large forehead, differs from marine dolphins not only by its pink color, also has a different characteristic, its dorsal fin is flatter and elongated. Let's know a little more about this mammal.
Characteristics
Their scientific name is Inia geoffrensis, they are a little different from their more common and well-known marine cousins, they have unique characteristics that allow them to live in fresh water, for example:
Its size can reach a maximum of 2.5 meters in length and has an average weight in males of 185 kg, while females can be a little larger and measure about 3 meters and weigh about 165 kg.
Their pink color appears in the adult stage because they are born gray like their marine relatives, the intense pink is accentuated more in the males.
The lack of cervical vertebrae allows them to move their big head in 180-degree movements, in it is their buccal cavity where it has more than 100 teeth that allow them to perform different activities. His eyes are very small and usually have poor eyesight, are almost blind.
Food and habitat
They are excellent hunters and their basic diet includes a surprising variety of 60 types of fish, in which we can find the crab, turtles. They feed alone and do not depend on the day or night to do so. They spend it on the bottoms of the rivers. Although when there are shoals of fish they are grouped in herds and one by one they take turns to eat.
Where do they live?
The location is in South America in the Amazon River, they can also live segmented in lakes that are generated in rainy seasons, or in fast rivers, they really adapt to any condition.
In the dry season, they appear in the large riverbeds, and in the rainy season, they swim through the jungle where there is a greater opportunity to hunt.
Species and reproduction
For a long time it was thought that the pink dolphin was a single genus, but through studies, it was determined that it has subspecies and one of them is currently under study:
Inia geoffrensis: located in the large river basins of the Amazon.
Inia geoffrensis humboldtiana: located in the Orinoco river basin, in addition to the Meta and Apure rivers.
Inia boliviensis: still unconfirmed as a subspecies of the rolled dolphin inhabits the Madeira River in Bolivia.
How do they reproduce?
The pink dolphin reaches sexual maturity of six to seven years, regardless of subspecies. The act occurs when both sexes unite their wombs, they do it in the dry season, when water levels are much lower than normal, their gestation period lasts between 9 and 12 months, and the females give birth for the months of May and July which coincides with the rainy season where they will have plenty of food to feed their offspring.

Excellent information about the pink dolphin.
They are beautiful and healing, because of the ultrasonic waves or the vibratory frequency, they help to heal, as is the case of children with autism and Down syndrome. They represent love, joy and harmony, and in Alternative Medicine Systems there is the essence of dolphins.
"ESSENCE OF DOLPHIN PINK"
It connects with the Vibration of Universal Love, works purity, mental lucidity and feelings that connect us with Truth and Freedom, from the feeling, releasing fears, resentments, aggressions and feelings of guilt.
Thanks to the botanist and researcher Andreas Korte.
