PORT CROS NATIONAL PARK

in #nature7 years ago

A few miles from the peninsula of Giens, the island of Port Cros and its sisters stand proudly above the Mediterranean Sea. The National Park of Port Cros was created in December 1963. The island of Port Cros, that of Bagaud, the islets of La Gabinière and Rascas form the park. It is only in 2012 that Porquerolles enters the park by becoming a part of the heart of it. The national park is also under management The peninsula of Giens and the Cap Lardier. This national park is a true natural wonder. Indeed, it possesses a vegetable and animal, terrestrial and marine heritage that only the small islands of the Mediterranean can offer.

At the turning of the 30 km of footpaths and cyclists of Port Cros, you can fall face to face with a spotted salamander. During a marine hike, at the corner of a coral discover a female peacock giraffe or an apogon. This fragmented territory is a natural sanctuary that must be preserved and protected in order to preserve the oldest marine park in Europe. Access to the islands of the national park is via shuttles from the ports of Giens and Le Lavandou. Discover and enjoy this haven of peace, this jewel that is the Port Cros National Park.
