Daily Nature Fix: Gullfoss Waterfall in Summer/Winter. (Original Photos)

in #nature7 years ago

Hi nature fans.  It's just about 2am right now, but I wanted to squeeze in a DNF post before calling it a night.  I'm trying to get back into making this a habit, so ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Anyway, as I mentioned yesterday, we just got back from our 4th trip to Iceland last week.  That being said, quite a few of the Daily Nature Fixes coming up will probably involve it in some way.  Tonight, I wanted to share a few photos of a giant, two-tier waterfall known as Gullfoss in the south-central region of the country.  They will be presented in a summer and winter version type of thing.  Here we go!

^^^Here's a classic view of the waterfall, taken in late June.  If you look close, you can see some time people on the outcropping to the left within the mist of the falls.

^^^And here it is in winter, taken last week.  As I mentioned on yesterday's post, the water appears much more blue in winter.  Cool stuff.

^^^Here's a summer-time close up of the water taking the 105ft plunge into the canyon...... and a pair of geese and their little babies.

^^^And the close-up last week.  At a flow rate of 30,000 gallons per SECOND, plus -4°C, it's a perfect recipe for a lot of ice!

Nature fan here. Looking at your photos brings me to that place, so thanks a lot for sharing. We're expecting more photos from you soon, you're a good photographer.

Lovely photos. The first is my favorite

omg soo beautiful ! the water looks cool

Nice. Some beautiful shots here. I am a new photographer to steemit and have a question for you about tags. You have focused this as a nature post rather than a photography post? Do you do that intentionally? Love to know your thoughts on this.

I do do it intentionally. I'm a nature enthusiast most of all, and not a photographer really. More like a guy who takes photos of his travels. Though your post will show in all categories that you tag, the first one will be the default tag that always is displayed.... and I like to keep that as my main theme: nature. 🌱

Thanks for the detailed display. I have had trouble seeing my posts in any of the secondary tags .
