Very interesting stuff; it's like you say though, the system is fragile, and is in a constant state of flux. So we must be careful about what we dump, friendly or not. The biggest worry at the moment is microfibres and what they're doing to our oceans.

Definitely. I can't say I'm a "fan" of this practice. It's really just a bizarre recycling story... of course the bigger issue is us designing things (like subway cars) to have a second life... purposefully. It's reckless for us to continue manufacturing things that aren't designed to live beyond a single-use. Plastics and microfibers are an example of that bad practice / short-sightedness.
