RE: Bats have been shown to be able to learn from other species of bats, and thus provide the first clue that species can teach other species things in the wild

I love your type of articles!

Surely very cool animals. Unfortunately, studies come along with a rather negative notion in that Humans attempt to measure animals or even plants intelligence by comparing it to Human behaviors. Like "how good is that animal in contracting Human behavior?", and the better the animal passes the test the more we make a judgment on its intelligence.
All of which from my perspective is only another sign of Human' hybris of placing itself first in terms of intelligence.
At best, studies indicate how well other life entities are able to mimic Human behavior but not much more. :)

Which is why I like that you come up with a study where Humans don't involve themselves too much in the experiment, and instead execute it with WILD bats and how species learn from each other. Much more natural! :)
