Mambilla plateau is located in Taraba state, Nigeria. It is the highest plateau in Nigeria and second highest in West Africa. It stands at a height of about 1,600m above sea level.
There are various towns on the plateau with a population of not less than 20,000 people. It is known as the coldest place in Nigeria and has now become a tourist attraction.
The plateau has very fertile land. Crops like banana, plantain, cassava, yam, sweet and Irish potatoes are grown here in large quantities. It is also dissected by many streams and rivers. It is home to the Gashaka Gumti national park which is the largest national park in Nigeria.
