Golden Sunsets Over The Straits Of Malacca

"Explore. Dream. Discover" – Mark Twain.

Malacca City, the beautiful coastal capital of Malacca State in Malaysia is beautiful and peaceful. Malacca is a city of history. It is a city of contrasts, a city steeped deep in tradition. Some of the major spots to explore are Joker Street in Chinatown, Jonker Night Market, Portuguese Square, and the 17th-century Chinese Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, with it's beautiful and ornate decor.

While in Chinatown, be sure to discover Jonker Street. If you love antiques, you will love Jonker Street. There is no greater adventure for antique lovers than a walk down Jonker Street. It is full of little and large antique shops, small street cafes, and quaint gift shops. For those with a love of Chinese antiques, this will be an antique adventure. While there, don't forget to allow time for the famous Jonker Street Night Market.

Our next stop will be Portuguese Square, often referred to as "Mini Lisbon." Portuguese Square is the main square within the Portuguese part of the city. This is the cradle of Portuguese life and culture, in the city, and in the country as a whole.

Our final stop will be The Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. This Chinese Temple is the oldest of the Malaysian Temples still in use. It is one of the few in the world which practices three types of Buddhism. It jointly practices Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. The building is a restored Chinese Temple built around 1640 using traditional architecture. One of the most amazing parts of the architecture is the intricately hand carved trim and decor throughout.

If you have chosen to stay on the Strait of Malacca, then you will want to return for sunset. Some of the worlds most amazing sunsets happen here. The little cottages out in the water are beautiful, peaceful, and have a front row view. Malacca will not disappoint you, so in the words of Mark Twain, "Explore, Dream, and Discover."
