I have been making my own lotions, bath oils, body creams, bath bombs, etc. for years. I used to teach Chemistry in high school and I had my students make and analyze various beauty products on the market. They were always surprised at the major ingredients in most products that were very expensive but had only a few active ingredients.
Today I made a lavender body cream for myself because I was almost out of the lemongrass body cream that I had been using. I change up the ingredients to suit my taste and my preferences.
This time I used some shea butter, organic coconut oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, Vitamin E, and some lavender essential oil. My skin is very dry and I use this cream when my skin is still moist after a bath. I haven't used the cocoa butter in a while because the smell of cocoa butter can sometimes overwhelm the essential oil fragrance that I want to use.
The consistency is like creamy mashed potatoes. There are many books on the market if you need specific recipes or if you are interested in experimenting in your kitchen. This is one of the books in my library.
Have a wonderful day!
