Naruto was good, until Shippuden. Should I watch Boruto?

in #naruto7 years ago (edited)

Naruto was one of my favorite anime/manga as a teenager. Like most Americans, I was first introduced to Naruto when it hit the American television channel Cartoon Network. After watching the first three episodes I was immediately hooked! I had always been a fan of Japanese anime, ever since Toonami brought it to the American youth in the early 2000's. My favorite anime's were DBZ and Gundamn Wing but as a teenager I took a long hiatus from anime after those shows ended. Once I watched Naruto I felt the same excitement that I had when I was young.

As the series continued I became addicted! So addicted that I actually couldn't wait for the next show to air! I had to find out what happened and be as up to date as possible, so I picked up my first manga and was finally exposed to Japans rendition of comic books. I couldn't believe how much better the manga was in comparison to the anime! The art style and the fight scenes were amazing and exceeded my expectations! I continued to read and watch the shows for several years...........and then Naruto Shippuden happened....

Naruto Shippuden almost killed my love of anime (thank God for Code Geass for not letting that happen). I really enjoyed the Naruto manga, but Naruto Shippuden just killed the shows power and influence with all the unnecessary fillers. For those who don't know what fillers are they are anime episodes that don't follow the main manga story line. Naruto Shippuden went almost 3 months with fillers toward the end of the series and it was too unbearable to watch! So I continued reading the manga instead of watching the show in order to keep up with the story.

Skipping all the spoilers for the show, I finished the Naruto manga in 2017 and I was not thrilled with its conclusion. The ending was very disappointing in my opinion! Now if you haven't seen/read the Naruto ending I wont spoil it with any important details but I say that the fact we got a sun shine and rainbows ending for a show was just upsetting......beyond upsetting actually.  I will give one detail, because it upset me that much, the fact that the main villain turned into some tree lady we have never heard of was just so ridiculous. Madara was a perfectly good villain and they just tossed him to the side at the end because they needed to create a villain Naruto didn't have to reason with in order to defeat. Just an ultimate evil that had no real feelings. It was beyond disappointing.

Most people have their own opinions about Naruto's ending but I will let them defend it if they wish to. The Naruto story has continued with Naruto's son Boruto, which is also the name of the new manga/show..I believe Boruto is written by a different author because Masashi Kishimoto(the creator of Naruto) retired. Baruto just seems to be a manga/anime companies attempt to make money and isn't worth really watching, but I could be wrong. If you have seen Boruto and like it please let me know in the comments section and why you think I should give it a chance.

My question to the steemit/anime community is whether or not I should watch the new Baruto series.  Let me know your thoughts and feelings about Boruto, or Naruto. I am sure the community will give me plenty of info.

Agree with you.
The fillers made me stop watching the anime.
The manga ending was really disappointing.
Why did Kishimoto introduce the Mother character when the fight with Madara was reaching its peak.
Madara was a character which got build up over the years. The best and most powerful villain. And all of a sudden, got killed off by some stupid woman.
I just couldn't understand why the author did this.

You and I are on the EXACT same page @klw! The pattern that Naruto follows has us hate a villain and then we learn more about them. This allows us to sympathize with the villains and then Naruto turns their thoughts and feelings. Kishimoto needed to have a villain where Naruto could just beat that had no dramatic sob story. That way it could just close out the villain cycle. It was incredibly dumb I agree. Madara was sooooo good because you knew about his character from the very beginning!

Madara was a perfect ending but of course we also had to resolve the Naruto and Sasuke conflict which was dissapointing. Sasuke just got a "get out of jail free card" and everyone just ignored everything that happened. Have you started Boruto?

I only read a few chapters of Boruto manga. Because its not the original author anymore, so wasn't sure to continue reading or not.
How is it? Maybe I can start watching the anime if it is good.

You have read and seen more then me at this point. I haven't even touched Boruto the series, except for that one anime movie they did. I think my years of Naruto exposure have just killed all interest in the show at this point.

Very nice blog friend ! I really enjoyed naruto until shippudent .. But i feel like boruto is more a kids show than a great ninja story ! Great content and keep it UP !

Thanks so much for your comments friend! Sounds like we shared the same feelings on shippuden. If Boruto is even more kid friendly then Naruto that's scary. It must just be constant jokes and minimal fighting and character development. Thanks for sharing your opinion!
