Nanomachines for killing cancer cells in the body

in #nanomachines7 years ago

Scientists have developed the Nanomachine, a machine that can dig and kill cancer cells in just 60 seconds. They are small rotational particles that move by light and spin rapidly. They can make their way through cell linings when being activated.

In tests conducted at Durham University, they took between one and three minutes to break through the membrane of a prostate cancer cell, killing it completely.

Small particles are a rotating series of atoms that can be stimulated to rotate in one direction, causing the molecule to spin very quickly.

Dr. Robert Pal, of Durham University, said to the newspaper: " We are moving towards realizing our ambition to be able to use light-activated nanomachines to target cancer cells such as those in breast tumors and skin melanomas, including those that are resistant to existing chemotherapy. "and continued " Once developed, this approach could provide a potential step change in non-invasive cancer treatment and greatly improve survival rates and patient welfare globally.  "

Therapeutic agents

The scientists, whose work was published in the journal Nature, have created several automatic molecules work with light and settle the surface of certain cells. The researchers found that Nanomachines needed to rotate from 2 million to 3 million times per second to overcome nearby obstacles, outperform natural Brownian movement, and the irregular movement of suspended microscopic particles in liquids.

Molecules can be used either to split a tunnel into cells carrying therapeutic agents, or to be lethal weapons that break the open tumor membranes.

Dr. James Thor said on behalf of the international team at the Research Rice University in Houston, USA, that these microscopic mechanisms are so small that we can put 50,000 of them in a diameter area of a human head hair, yet they were working and targeting components in this very small package to make the very small machines capable of diseases treating in fact. The study showed that it is possible to drill inside cells, whether they are animal cells or human cells using these microscopic machines.
