I have bitten my finger nails all my life and I thought I would bite my nails for the rest of my life.
I tried every remedy and when I look at family photos I was always hiding my hands, not a nice habit but it is very difficult to break - it is more something you do without even knowing you are doing it.
How did I stopped bitting my nails about 12 months ago - No remedy but a decision. (I'm 45 years old so never to late to break a bad habit)
How did I do it ?
I decided to only bite 4 nails per hand (not my thumbs - that was my choice but you can choose your own two fingers) and let the nails grow and you need to take care of them and cleaned them. My focus was not about stopping but only the two nails and I carry on biting the other 8 nails.
It was more of a mental decision to care for only two thumbs, after a few weeks -
I am not sure how long it took me but I care for 2 and then now I care for 10 nails - I then stopped bitting completely.
I have had to adjust having nails - putting in my contacts and keeping them clean, a concept that is still new to me.
I try to keep them short but I have to pinch myself that I have nails, especially when I scratch my friends back.
Its about 6 - 8 months later and would love to hear about your results and I try to share with others - as it is a sensitive topic and no one has ever approached me about this subject.
It's not going to be quick process but I hope in your case it works.
Good luck to the non - biting nails club
I would love to hear your results and hope it works for you
Hope you enjoyed my post and appreciate your comments and suggestions

Passing this info on to my daughter; she's your age and it's been a lifelong habit. Will let you know if she succeeds, thank you!
It not about how quickly she stops but that she takes care of just two nails and it worked for me.
Hope it helps and now I have to learn to keep them short as Im still not use to having them.
