Ok... Here's my problem with Steemit...

in #mytwocents7 years ago (edited)

It isn't a good platform for alt-media, nor as a social network. It discourages people from up-voting good content, because people want to save their "steem power". Instead of just liking stuff you like, people look at it like an investment. And it sucks as a social network, because it's pretty much all people you don't know, and will never meet. It's basically like facebook, without friends, and people only like and share stuff for monetary gain. The only people doing good on steemit are people who already had a fallowing on youtube, facebook, or twitter. Or people who bought into it. The vast majority of people on here are competing over the couple pennies they are going to get for posting a picture of their cat (no offence to cat people). I'm going to give it a try, but i don't see this site ever competing with the other major social media sites.

Anywho... That's my Two cents worth... Peace

jakepv, Here is a link sent to me @trudeehunter and it explains there is no use in voting until you have some steem money to vote with. I didn’t really it as I am also a newbie.

Thanks for the link.

But that is kind of my point. The monetary aspect of this site is really it's downfall. It puts the power for people to be seen in the hands of the people with the most money, rather than just letting it naturally happen by merit. All you have to do is go buy some of the fake money they invented out of then air, and everyone will see your posts. It's like they mixed facebook with the game of monopoly.

My spellcheck keeps changing word- I typed realize and it was changed to really before I noticed.
Another tip I received when I joined was to take part in the @contests.

No worries. I can't spell either. Lol. Jk :)
