Who is Wandering Jew

Like I said, Wandering Jew is a mythical person who has been immortal since Jesus era.

Information about the Wandering Jew is different in every literature.Some say he was a shoemaker where some say he was a tradesman and some say he was the doorman at Pontius Pilate's estate .The origin of him is uncertain but at least we know that he is from medieval christian folklore.To be I am not the type of person who believes in folklore although, most of the folklore come from true stories.Problem is that these folklore have no proof of being true.And I need proof to believe something, not just good stories.

His Story

According to the myths, he was cursed by Jesus and he will wander on earth till the second coming of Jesus.His legend began to spread in Europe in the 13th century

The legend says a Jew who taunted Jesus on the way to the Crucifixion and was then cursed to walk the earth until the Second Coming.And so, he will walk on earth Jesus returns.

Local belief

In some areas the farmers arranged the rows in their fields in such a way that on Sundays the Eternal Jew might find a resting place. Elsewhere they assumed that he could rest only upon a plough or that he had to be on the go all year and was allowed a respite only on Christmas.
