Success Of Mystery Movies

in #mystery2 years ago

Well, a lot of that has to do with an engaging ensemble cast and how they react under pressure; script-wise, it depends on the movie. For Knives Out, the genre changes midway to more suspense than mystery then flips back to mystery during the end. Plus, that movie’s dealing with different themes besides the murder, so it’s tackling those themes while also providing witty humor amongst the family and detectives. As for Clue, it plays its humor effectively, though the tone is more light-hearted than Knives Out. Of course, being based on a board game and having multiple endings, it has more gimmicky type shenanigans than relying on a solid answer. I think both movies work the way they do because in a closed off location, only one of them did it, so it’s a case of building a tight alibi without getting caught, and the tension is compelling during interrogations, when it’s time to fight or flight. I guess that’s my answer. Take it for what it’s worth.
