My Introduction to Steemit

in #myintroduction6 years ago (edited)

After a life altering work accident that left me without the ability to walk and talk, I decided to take my life by the horns.
In the first 12 hours of being electrocuted by the mains of the house (240v + Amps) I surprised every one even being alive, I managed to get back on my legs and walking and then signed my self out of hospital with what words I could manage to slur and mumble out.
For weeks on end after that I kept on practising and repeating many of brain and talking exercises I went from taking 5 minutes to get a sentence or two out to back normal speaking pace within 8 weeks.
During that 8 weeks, I didn’t know what to do other than to paint, write or create content and I knew with the side effects of PTSD from the incident I wouldn’t be able to go straight back to work let alone any regular job that would involve using or being around wires and live power.
Almost all jobs that I am qualified for involved power or at least being near it and that’s still a huge issue for me to get over.
So instead I started my own small business, (Pilot Dave) where I create sell and license artwork and content that’s either digital or physical form.
It’s turned out to be a bigger challenge than I expected but I loved it from the second I begun.
Now I write for whoever I want, write about what ever subjects I want, paint how I want to, film with what ever camera I feel like it and most of all I make my own hours and pay my own way through all my efforts.
One of my main goals was to thank the rapper 360 for the music he created that helped me get through the last 12 months and I ticked that goal off already as well as many others that have lead me to the ability to be my own boss and make my own money.
I encourage any one reading this to do the same as I did and take your life by the horns and start living it how you want to live, if you have a dream that is more than achievable then get up and do it, do not let any one hold you back no matter how old you are, where you are in your career just look at your life... do you like the way it’s going or do want to do something you’ve been dreaming of for years? What ever your goals are to achieve your dreams are I urge you to do it.
Here’s 360 and the artwork I did to thank him, which I know sounds silly but he was a huge inspiration to get out of bed each day, huge motivation to start my own business and achieve my dreams.

What I said was, I’d keep you in mind.
I don’t often bother people with my questions because I feel like I might be bothering them or interfering with their work etc.
Have no doubts though, I will be in touch if I run into any troubles :)
Thanks again mate.
