This was a great find!
While at the lake, we often find fishing lures that have been lost by others. Since we really don't buy fishing lures very often, it's a great way to add to our tackle collection, and this little largemouth bass lure was a really nice looking one. It must have been pretty new when the angler lost it.
In this photo you can see the dark lateral line that Largemouth Bass are known for. They are a top gamefish that are targeted by many anglers not only for the food, but also for the fight. The lure we found is designed to look like a baby largemouth bass, a common forage fish for many predatory fish in freshwater lakes.
Here's a larger Largemouth Bass I caught some time ago. Usually we catch them on nightcrawlers or minnows, but that's because we usually use live, natural bait. Artificial lures and crankbaits also work great for catching this species. Here's some more photos of the bait we found.
