Introduction

It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of such an amazing community that provides a forum for people to connect through common interests, while also allowing for freedom of expression.

The purpose of this post is to:

• Introduce myself to the community
• Share my interests and the things I am most passionate about
• Explain how I came to discover #HIVE
• Express my intentions for utilizing this platform

I would also like to acknowledge @LoveSniper and @indayclara from @ocd for prompting me to make this introduction post. Let's get to it!

WHO AM I

My name is Marino Panapa, I'm 30 years old and I am the youngest of four siblings. I have an amazing partner and we are the proud parents of two beautiful girls. I am of Māori and Scottish descent. I was born and raised, and have lived my entire life in the beautiful country of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

My name, Marino was chosen for me by my late Grandfather Joseph, who named me after his younger brother, Marino "Nino" Macpherson - who served with New Zealand's 28th Māori Battalion during the Second World War. It is for this reason that I carry this name with pride and honor. The word Marino, in the Māori language means to be calm or still - hence my moniker, Kxlm, which is "Calm" spelt with a 'K' and the 'A' substituted with an 'X' to give it a little more swag.

MY INTERESTS

I love spending time with my family. Our favorite place is the beach, but we also enjoy taking walks on scenic trails. I am most passionate about gaming and music. I was introduced to both at a very early age. My first gaming console being the Sega Mega Drive II, with games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and of course, Street Fighter! Beloved games of which I share many cherished memories of with my siblings and cousins.

I attribute my love for music to my parents, who raised me and my siblings in a Christian church, which had the most amazing band. It is here where I believe my love for music was cultivated.

I have since held on to my passion for both gaming and music, where I have owned a number of different gaming consoles over the years (the Xbox Series S being my most current) and have continued to produce my own music, the earliest of which was at the age of 10.

HOW I DISCOVERED HIVE

August, 2021 is where I began my Crypto/Blockchain journey, after seeing an Instagram post about XRP from my nephew in Australia, which sparked my curiosity. As I began to delve deeper into finding out more about Blockchain technology, I came across the term "NFT", which then lead me to NFT Gaming - more specifically the "Play to Earn" model.

It was at this moment that I had a sudden realization of tremendous truth. I had spent countless hours over the last 20+ years of my life, buying and playing video games and from all of my time and effort, I had nothing to show for it. The prospect of being able to own my assets within a game, earn income while I play, and be a stakeholder in a project - I was convinced I had found my future in gaming.

I headed straight to the google play store from my mobile phone on a whim. The first game to catch my attention was Splinterlands. I was hooked instantly and so began my #HIVE journey.

MY PLANS IN THE HIVE COMMUNITY

My intention is to provide genuine value to Gamers and Musicians alike.

The #HIVE games I am currently playing are Splinterlands and Rising Star, so my gaming content for the most part will focus solely on those two games. I am very much a novice when it comes to things like tokenomics, investing and blockchain technology in general. There are much smarter people than myself that can better guide people in those aspects of NFT gaming.

I feel I can offer the most value by sharing gameplay strategies, keeping players up to date with the meta and sharing my personal journey in its entirety to help others learn from my triumphs, as well as my mistakes.

I would also like to provide my fellow musicians, artists and producers with tutorials and guides on music production, to assist them on their journey to realizing their musical aspirations. I will also be documenting my own musical journey, from learning to play new instruments, to producing my own original music independently. I welcome you all to join me on this wonderful adventure.
