The UN Security Council has expressed deep concern over the escalation of violence in Myanmar. The United Nations has called for an immediate end to hostilities and for the junta to exercise "maximum restraint" in order to avoid further escalation in Myanmar, Qatar-based Al-Jazeera reported.

Al Jazeera's report added that the call was made in a rare statement with the consent of 15 members of the Security Council. Meanwhile, the military has set fire to the homes of anti-coup protesters in Myanmar's western province of China. Myanmar's military is increasing the number of heavy weapons and troops in the Chinese state.
