Today’s post is part of @anomadsoul’s challenge which consists of introducing my hobby.
I love making things out of old toys, books or some creative looking objects which i keep collecting. I do not earn from this hobby as per now so i freelance as a designer for projects and work.
Being in advertising gets you bored in the trade so i wanted to do something which i can make from hand, something physical. That i can share with people or gift it to them. This hobby came to me out of blues one day while cleaning my old toys and stuff with memories. I just wanted to recycle it and make something good out of it, hence began the affair.
Most of the work i create is as a gift to friends. Either i got to their places and create stuff or i just make it from home and gift it to them. Mostly i do this while meeting and chilling with friends. I catch up and keep making these pieces while talking to them, sometimes involving them. Some pieces take only hours and some two days. It's hard work but outcome is pleasing.
One day i just want to roam to different homes and cafes around the globe doing this and people paying me for it, or maybe just stay and food. haven't given it a much thought for now. Just want to create for some time. And keep creating.
Some of the things i made:
Made this dreamcatcher from an old hoolahoop and some yarn, feathers and beads.
Painted this wall in my shared flat. Flatmates were really chill :) they even joined in
A door painted at a friends apartment
I made some things out of old toys too
A wine bottle lampshade
A earring hanger from a chocolate box attachement
A message board from and old word game, you can change the messages
Toy train bedside lamp
In short inspiration can strike in any form. I see a particular object and i visualise the final object. I have a lot of ideas to execute, since mind races faster than the hands. Plus am a bit lazy too. Everybody needs a push and so do i :)
Hope you liked what i create.
