I do not believe that financial management in a home should be by gender, but rather by several criteria,

* Capability

In some homes the man is more financially capable, you can't say because he works and she doesn't, the wife should be in charge. That decision will ruin them.

* Dependability

Between the man and woman, who is more dependable, I'd the woman is then she should be in charge but if the man is he should be in charge.

* Want/Choice

There are some people that generally do not like to be in charge of finances, and handing them that responsibility is bad for the house.

Those are some points, what I'm trying to say basically is that no two couple are the same and I think it is best to decide between themselves who to be in charge. That way no one would blame anybody whatever the outcome may be.
