Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

in #musicmonday6 years ago (edited)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

I hope everyone is well and has enjoyed a really good weekend! Bit of a change of pace for me this week, although the track does build to a exquisitely rousing crescendo! This is such palpably beautiful song and one that's backed by some extraordinary talent .. I say song, but really this is a beautiful river of music, a river that sweeps you away and takes you to distant shores. I hope you enjoy!

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Lonely Days

Great choice this week @hercdoukakis .. not heard this Bee Gees track before but I thought it was great. Melancholy, yet quite beautiful .. I could hear shades of the Beatles in some of the harmonies and arrangements .. whilst at the same time keeping their unique style and sound, a fine balancing act! You've sparked my interest in delving back into some pre Staying Alive recordings. Thank you for the music my friend, I really enjoyed listening to this one.

when it first came out they thought it was a beatles songs so you are spot on

I just went back to my youth when I rigged up a new turntable, and I invested in Joes Garage 1 2 and 3 :-)

Come for a ride bro?

Ha a classic my friend! I haven't had the time to listen to the full album (I will) but I know it very well. A true musical genius and someone that was way ahead of his time. Someone that by holding a music-powered mirror up to society was oft misunderstood .. the track Bobby Brown is a classic example of that! Another timeless and brilliant choice of music my friend .. thank you for sharing it. :)

More than welcome bro, the pajama people track always made me laugh as it truly reflects some things in society, as does Jethro Tull, name that album in 1. :-)

We all do and none of us do.

Ah what a beautiful classic song from one of my favourite films. Stunning scenery as well .. I've climbed those mountains and I know the castle :) A really powerful scene and the music encapsulates it perfectly, lifts your heart and brings a lump to your throat. Very well chosen my friend, I really enjoyed both the song and video. Thank you for the music @thoughts-in-time

I'm a little late to the party this week but does anyone remember James?

I think the hodlers among us can identify with this sentiment;)
Now I've swung back down again
And it's worse than it was before
If I hadn't seen such riches
I could live with being poor

ah yes I remember this, thank you for the reminder, you have me singing it this morning xx

Sorry @deirdyweirdy I was listening to the music in bed and fell asleep with my headphones on! Lol Yes I remember James .. in fact I saw him/them a couple of years back. So much of my youth interwoven with this great track, memories now .. whispers on the wind. And yes I' with you on the Hodling aspect lol Excellent choice my friend .. thank you for the music!

good to be back on this thread. here's my Monday music for ya:

Thank you my friend, and sorry for the late listen but I fell asleep last night! :) Have you ever heard of the incredible string band? there are certainly aspects of this track that remind me of them. I like the sound of this music, it sounds really spontaneous and instant .. you could imagine it springing up in a old ale house, the drink is going down and everyone is dancing and having a great time! Sorry, I lost myself for a minute there! lol Thank you for the music my friend .. I really enjoyed listening to this one.

Never heard of them but I’ll gice them a listen.

I’m about to board a plane so I might have to listen to this tune later. Here’s one from a project I’ve been working on...

Hope you're setting off for somewhere nice? And thank you for leaving us with some of your music, you're clearly very talented and I really enjoyed listening to this! I could close my eyes and be transported to a smoky old jazz club .. love it! Thank you for the music my friend, this was a listening pleasure. :)

Hey my friend, this is really cool .. I like! :) 8o's style synth with a modern twist that keeps you guessing as to where it's going to go to next. A really nice epic feeling soundscape or should I say dreamscape .. actually that was an 80s film ..synth included! :D Another great choice of music my friend, I'm really interested in the sound so I'll be looking into their back catalogue. Thank you for the music @sequentialvibe

Ha nice choice my friend .. Disco infused rock music , who'd have thought it? Actually now I come to think of it, I think it was Kiss that also produced a disco/rock album called Dynasty? Cool sound my friend, a unique fusion of styles and some great guitar work/vocals thrown into the mix .. whats not to like. :) Thank you for the music @calisay I shall be taking a look at what else these guys have done.

Change of pace huh? How about this one?

Someone had the bright idea we should sing this one in the studio over the weekend. We laughed our asses off about the giddy-up part and how it jumps up a key 4 times at the end.

Young folks may wonder what I am on but the older ones will remember this one!

Haha yes I remember this one lol It has an almost drunken Chas & Dave sound to it :) I like Chas and Dave so that's cool lol I can't imagine she is still playing Elvira eh? lol A definite blast from the past and one that raised a laugh so once again I'd like to say thank you for the music. :)

this is beautiful my friend thank you for the introduction, it definitely does transport me, I do love my string instruments and when they come in wow it lifts me up xxx
here is mine for today 23 year old Colter Wall, what a voice he has x

Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed my choice this week and wow yours was brilliant, really enjoyed this one .. such a rich, deep and gravelly voice .. with some great guitar work to complement it, an excellent choice my friend. Thank you for the introduction and thank you for the music .. I shall enjoy finding out what others tracks/albums he's done.

I am glad you enjoyed him I only discovered him recently and so glad I did. his voice and guitar skills are great, not many can stand alone like that xxx

I know he is in a league of his own, that voice has so much depth and age to it yet he's only 23 xxxx

Gosh I love Music Monday sooo much. It's my fave part of week on Steemit. Did you see @likedeeler has joined in too?

So I'm glad I waited to get home for yours @perceptualflaws.. definitely needed to be on the stereo! Those waves and walls of sound! Nice choice my friend. Listened to twice with the warm breeze coming in then dozed off for a while in late afternoon happiness. Woke up and this was autoplaying... now this is one of my all time fave Dylan songs.. like I LOVE it so much.. and this is a pretty beautiful version so thought I may as well share it here.

Hey my friend, Glad you enjoyed my choice .. as promised I dropped another one of is tracks into your musicsunday ;) lol. I wanted to give this track my full attention so I've just sat down and I must say that I'm glad I did .. what a beautiful rendition of this amazing song! Such a brilliant songwriter, and it's great to see his songs live on through such talented young musicians .. I say live on but hey if we don't blow ourselves up we'll be playing Bob Dylan songs in a thousand years time, and so we should :D An excellent choice, a really emotive and beautiful song given the justice it deserves. Thank you for the music .. this was a listening pleasure!

@perceptualflaws...I hope the reno is working itself out: )

Here's an end of the road type song...

Hey my friend, I should have it at least ready for Christmas within the next week .. after that I can take it a bit easier, look forward to getting back into writing! Love this track my friend, it really does have that end of the line type feel about it .. I often used to think about riding the train tracks :) Really great sound as well, your new studio set up is really paying dividends . Excellent work my man .. as always thank you for your gift of music, much appreciated!

Thank you for sharing my friend .. the opening bars of this track remind of a really famous song .. trying to think what it is grrr lol .. Nice sounds @rosgard feels like a 60's kind of vibe going on here .. cool, chilled and laid back .. I like! Thank you for sharing my friend .. I enjoyed listening to this one.

The song is the 60s. This particular song was recorded in the 1970s. Penalty was a hit in due time. It was lost in the countries of a socialist camp. But there was an iron curtain. I think you have this song was banned. I recall for listening to the Soviet radio was a suspended sentence. Re-listening to music 5 years in prison.
Although a song about love. About dating a guy and a girl. Going to the movies and the like.

Nice track. Digging on the vibes from it. Pretty good for this cold weather we are getting up here.

Here's my track for the day. Just got to play a DJ gig at a art show and finally play this one out on Friday. That right mix of melancholy that I like. Love the vocal, but it is those percolating plucks that resonate so much with me and it's carried over into today.

Hey very nice choice my friend and congratulations on the gig. An art show, that must have been great venue/night for the music .. A really cool track, atmospheric and something quite hauntingly beautiful about it about it .. nicely done! Thank you for the music my friend .. this definitely hit the spot! :)

Loving the instruments! Nice melancholy sounding song.
Hope you’ve heard of this girl, she’s awesome with the violin!
Lindsey Stirling - Crystallize

What a brilliant fusion of soundscapes eh @cmplxty? An excellent choice this week and a powerful piece of music .. really enjoyed this! It can be easy to mock some modern music, but this track is a testament to the fact that.. there is some amazing talent out there! Thank you for the music my friend, this was a pleasure.

I started listening to the first notes of this on the way to work I quickly realised it is one that I need to play on the stereo to give it a proper listen. I will get back to you later on today after I listen to it and drop a Tune back xx
