The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.
Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.
As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.
Hey I hope everyone has enjoyed a great weekend! It's been a long day at work so my choice this week is one that always puts a spring in step. You never know what musical direction this band are going to take next and I just love the lyrics and retro vibe of this track. I hope you enjoy
This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.
Many thanks for taking the time and consideration to read this post. Any upvotes, follows and resteems are greatly appreciated. Follow @perceptualflaws
Man this is an absolute classic .. you're right it is timeless, equally it defines our time! What a genius band they were .. Roger had it all worked out ;) Another inspired choice of musical genius, thank you for sharing @tremendospercy
I like your song choice, it has a retro feel to it but doesn't sound "outdated"!
This has a bit more of a laid back Saturday or Sunday feel to it which I think has the perfect weekend-nostalgia feeling needed on a Monday.
I like not only Mos Def's music but also his lyrics, which tend to stay true to the old school prose style of hip-hop vs the modern machine-gun random word rhyming.
The sometimes opinionated lyrics, can open up your mind to someone else's perspective. Allowing you to better understand where they're coming from and hopefully change your perception of them or their views. And it tends to does so without a lot of the violence and crime aspect.
Hey great choice this week @hrissm Mos Def is a great hip-hop artist .. One of the last great intelligent rappers who actually had something to say .. takes me back to the days of KRS-ONE where hip-hop really meant something. Thank you for the music!
Happy Monday @onetruebrother! Yes, I can see what you're saying .. they have a similar vibe going on. Excellent stuff .. I really enjoyed this track and although I've never heard these before ... that situation will be rectified :) Thank you for the music my friend.
Brilliant track from (for my money) one of the best albums of all time .. an excellent choice and one that I haven't heard for a while and so really enjoyed listening to. Thank you for the music
I have a question, if you can. If I correctly translated your text are you Socialists? If this is true, if you have time, then I would like to talk with you. Maybe not personally with you, but by the person who answers these questions. Thank you for any of your answers.
Great choice @jakeybrown .. glad you liked mine. I really enjoyed this track! the beats are spot on .. and he sounds so smooth yet powerful .. the voice of experience! An inspired choice my friend .. thank you for the music.
Excellent choice @ricia who doesn't love a bit of Leonard's Helleluah .. epic and stirring stuff!! You can almost taste the contentment of a life lived to it's very fullest. Thank you for the music my friend .. I really enoyed this!!
Yes @amymya, I get very emotional listening to it too, especially when sung by the old author, who was famous for his sad dirges. However, he has a way of teaching us about ourselves nevertheless and sadness is very human. He said that in his view, all Hallelujahs have equal value, whether they be perfect or broken. I liked that :)
Hey @natubat love this!! Funky as hell .. and in my eyes that's a very good thing! They certainly don't make them like this anymore. Do you ever listen to any Funkadelic? .. another great band and the progenitors of much modern music. Thank you for his inspired choice .. ust what I need to get me going this morning!!
SuperCat is Ghetto Red Hot in this jam. He's also well known for Dolly My Baby and Don Dada. Interesting fact is that he's half Indian (from India) and half Jamaican. His brother Junior Cat is also dope. Unfortunately this Hip Hop Remix of the song doesn't have a video. Still dope AF.
Brilliant @patricorayaz .. timeless beats and this whole era (for me) marked a high tide mark for hip-hop. I'e never heard of supercat before but after this track I will be sure to delve into his back catalogue .. Thank you for the music!!
My musical taste regarding Hip Hop is in a time warp stuck in the early 90's. It was the Golden Era of HH in my opinion. Surprised you've never heard of SuperCat. Check out Dolly My Baby and Don Dada.
Oh go on then brother, have 1 of my favourite 60`s tunes, I am going for a less serious sound tonight, as life is serious enough as it is, hope I find you well my friend.
Excellent choice my friend! I grew up listening to the small faces and humble pie and this is just such feel good track! All good here thank you, hope you're also well. Thank you for the music @deliberator
Oasis deserve so much more credit, they should be considered to be up there with the likes of Elvis and the Beatles. Not only did they define there generation but almost every song they ever produced was great in one way or another. They were probably the most consistently brilliant band of all time.
And this song is one proof of all the reasons why they should be proud of. Let's nostalgia together through the Oasis song, "Don't Look Back in Anger".
Great choice this week @rial17 .. and you're right the music of Oasis really did define a generation .. my generation :) I was lucky to enough to catch these guys live a couple of times, once when they were just starting out and another time just before they broke up. I must say their stage presence was something else and the held the audience in the palm of their hands. Thank you for the music .. I really enjoyed this trip down memor lane!
You are very lucky to have experience from big bands like Oasis. while my generation only has Oasis songs as memories to remember. While your generation have felt the glory of Oasis in the past. You're the lucky one my friend @perceptualflaws
This time I want to share one of my other favorite songs. The title is, 7 Second, a song sung by Youssou N'Dour featuring Neneh Cherry. This song won the 1994 MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song.
Some of the reasons why I always put this song on the list is in addition to the music that keeps me excited, also because of the facts of this song use three languages as the lyrics. English, French, and Wolof Languages, the traditional languages of tribes in several African countries such as Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia. Besides the main idea in the lyrics in this song is something that is very important for us to know all. Revealing the issue of violence, this song seems to invite us to re-think what is violence.
The fact that violence prevailed in the world, has really polluted the sanctity of newborn babies. Only a few seconds after babies are born of polemics and acts of violence, wars and so on are in front of them, and they grow up inheriting all the bad things.
You are welcome @ricia. The songs that the music and lyrics have the power to make us re-think about something must be heard often to keep the mental sanity. Cheers. :D
Great choice @footsteem and equally I too appreciate the inherent unity of this song. We are divided on so many fronts and yet at our core the vast majority of us are united by our humanity and our desire for peace and a better world for the children that walk this earth. Thank you for the music @footsteem
Thanks also for you @perceptualflaws. I think Music Monday should be a serial post on this platform. The simplicity of the concept that you offer here, making the discussion room about the music world more open, relaxed and also adds to my knowledge of music. At least this is my two-day diving experience in this Music Monday discussion room, and really, I really appreciate it.
Thank you my friend, in a world of division music is a universal language .. I really enjoy drawing us all together and focusing on the unity that musical exploration brings to us all.
I first heard this when I was 13 and holy moly, what an awakening!
Now listening to it I appreciate it more for different aspects other than that initial thrill, the guitar to synth solos mid song are just mind blowing <3
An inspired choice @amymya I've never heard this before but I love it! I love female rock vocalists with Grace Slick being a particular favourite. Very cool track and I'm loving the guitar and synth riffs .. brilliant stuff! Thank you for the music.
Hey my friend .. thank you for this brilliant choice, I really enjoyed this! I've never heard of these before and that's a testament to why I love #musicmonday .. and you're right I thought the lyrics were excellent, clever and multi-layered. Thank you for the music @fadedhistory
When I listen to Scorpion song, I start to memorize the best days of my life, days with a lot of love, happiness and of course with limited responsibilities.
Man it's been a long long time since I heard this! I real departure from their usual stuff, but it was a welcome one. Great choice @suhiel Thank you for the music!
Maroon 5, "She will be loved". I really like this Maroon five's song, this song reminds me to my best friend. They're so close, but the guy does not have the courage to express what he feels to his girlfriend. This song is very very simple, with an easy guitar chord, maroon 5 can make great music. This my favorit songs for this week.
Wow! that was epic @funworlding .. as it's one of my all time favourite songs I was all geared up to hate on it .. but I have to say this was a superb rendition!! Excellent stuff my friend .. Thank you for sharing!!
Hey there! Really liked your choice, kind of groovy but also relaxing. The only thing more special than this mixture is the video which I totally love :D
Today I've got four songs. If you look at their genres they both come from the origin of electronic music but couldn't be more diverse in my oppinion.
The first two songs are from Little Dragon who I mentioned on past 'Music Mondays'.
Both songs are not only connected by sharing the same release date and front and back of an 12" vinyl, they are also connected by their lyrics and cover arts which are beautiful and as much works of art as the songs themselves.

The next two songs are more pumped up. They are from Virtual Self aka Porter Robinson and are called Ghost Voices and Particle Arts. Virtual Self's style (music and video) is heavily inspired by 2000's techno and video game music, trance, some vocaloid and Japanese style techno and even if I was far too young to really experience that time it just feels so nostalgic and great that 2000's electronic music gets a little revival by Virtual Self aka Porter Robinson.

I just wanted to mention an interesting excerpt from an interview with Porter Robinson about Virtual Self which really speaks to me and my first experiences with the internet:
"There was a certain sense of escapism afforded by the internet that’s no longer the case. You’d join a chatroom or forum with a name that’s not tied to your identity and very little info was being collected about you. There were no algorithms trying to give you an ideal experience. Everything on the internet now is very much an evaluation of who you are and your self worth. Back then, you could depict yourself any way that you wanted." Hey my friend .. great track choice this week! Very eclectic, I didn't know whether to fire up the strobe and start dancing or dim the lights and allow the sublime beats to wash over me :) .. brilliant stuff! Thank you for the music @hashkeks .. you always come up with something new and fresh!
Hey there perceptualflaws. I love your music moon days! I'll take a minute and address the archon/A.I. slash what the hell is going on with humanity and this technology within about 100 years of most people on this earth lighting their homes with wax and oils.
I think any thinking person would be curious about this and would want to investigate and offer theories on it. I find the material evolutionary atheist view on this kind of unimaginative and boring but consider it possible. I do, however, feel that most alternate theories need to be framed as speculation (for the most part), and yes, your particular take on it is rather compelling. Ultimately I don't know, but again it seems to me that something more is happening in this regard than what Dickie and Dennett and the boys would concede.
I like my theories, too, though, on this issue, and write about them quite frequently. My Tallomite post offers up one possible cosmology that would account for it.
