I'm not necessarily talking about sound here, I'm also talking about attitude and sheer brutality, there are a lot of bands on this list that you mightn't have heard of but stay tuned and you might be pleasantly pummeled in to submission!
I've tried to steer clear of tracks that everyone knows and loves and show you some bands you might not have listened to before. I hope your computer chair has a seatbelt on it and is fire retardant.
Ragnarok – Burning Earth
This song is absolutely relentless, sheer, pure, unadulterated brutality. From start to finish this song just assaults you from all sides, not only is it fast as hell, it has a really catchy tune and will take you to places hitherto undreamed of!
Rebaelliun – Red Spikes
A brazillian band that writes old school death metal but gives more speed, more substance and more hatred per square inch than most other death metal bands, and for a relatively unknown band this is well above par of some of the greats.
Svart Crown – In Utero: A Place of Hatred and Threat
This track starts so unassumingly but when you start to hear the sound clip of the girl screaming you realise this isn't what you expected. Svart Crown unleash pure, death inducing hatred with this song. It's hard to get your head around what you're exactly listening to but when it ends you kind of sit there battered, kind of in relief but absolutely wanting more...
Anaal Nathrakh – The One Thing Needful
Anaal Nathrakh are at the forefront of extreme music, constantly creating some of the heaviest of the heaviest music. They are almost without equal but not only that, they create such mental music which has a massive soul, I honestly could have just picked any of their songs but I feel that this song shows their entire style.
Mortician – Barbarian
If you want sheer weight of noise look no further than Mortician. This band just crush almost every other band in terms of heaviness. Goregrind at it's core Mortician create a purely disgusting aura with their music and that is not said lightly. Short tracks with extreme violence... Strap yourself in!
Nightbringer – Et Nox Illumination Mea In Deliciis Meis
Nightbringer in 2014 came out with one of the most insanely heavy black metal albums I've ever heard, no compromise, no quarter, no light. This track is beyond compare, everything about it is heavy as hell.
Urfaust – Vom Gesicht und Ratsel
This is a little bit different and not really heavy in the traditional sense but the attitude of this song puts it on another plane. For some reason when I listen to this song I sense pure and utter despair and even more specifically what the people who were being impaled felt. Pain, despair and complete loneliness... if that's not heavy I don't know what is!?
Azarath – Supreme Reign of Tiamat
Extreme black metal at it's finest, Azarath just fucking go for it. They don't ask any questions and they don't want any answers they just create music in it's heaviest and purest form. This track is no exception and it does not let up, if you end up with mystery wounds after listening to it don't blame me, you were warned.
Dead Congregation – Only Ashes Remain
Dead Congregation have been around since 2005 but have only released 2 full length albums which is unheard of for metal bands... the 2 albums they have released however have been 2 of the finest examples of Death Metal in history and this track from their last full length shows them at their finest.
Nux Vomica – Sanity is for the Passive
This is another track different to what most would perceive as heavy, but nonetheless Nux Vomica have a fuck the human race attitude that just bleeds heaviness. Their misanthropic views and hatred for the establishment gives their albums and this track in particular is heavy as hell and shows another side of heaviness that most don't think of.
