If you haven't seen the documentary 'The Farthest - Voyager In Space' yet, I recommend you check it out as it has a great soundtrack and graphic animation along with actual footage of the Voyager 1 and 2 spacecrafts and the images they took.
It's a fascinating story. Voyager 2 blasted off first in 1977 while Voyager 1 blasted off a few months later. Voyager 1 was set to travel faster though and would eventually overtake Voyager 2 to take the lead and today is now the farthest known man made object hurtling out into deep space. NASA continues to receive data from the spacecraft.
Pink Floyd fans might especially enjoy this doc as there is a realistic animated scene where one of the spacecrafts does a couple of slow flybys in deep space and the band's classic song 'Us and Them' from their album 'Dark Side Of The Moon' plays in the background. I thought it was very surreal and downright cool.
And yes, I'm a Pink Floyd fan. I saw them in 1987 and 1994, both in Toronto and Roger Waters in 2005, again in Toronto. Great memories!
