Hey guys, today i will share with you a few simple steps on how you can easily score an A* in IGCSE music. In IGCSE music you are asked to hand in two final compositions. Here are the steps to score well in your compositions:
- Genre
- DO NOT do two of the same styles of music
- If one of your compositions is an orchestral piece, DO NOT do another orchestral piece
- Time Range
- Nothing under 1.5 minutes and nothing over 3 minutes
- Remember that you do not want to make the marker loose interest
- Repetition
- A lot of mistakes i notice is that the IGCSE music compositions people hand in is simply just one repeated idea
throughout. - To prevent repetition, try adding ORNAMENTS or slight note changes for each bar
- A lot of mistakes i notice is that the IGCSE music compositions people hand in is simply just one repeated idea
- Structure
- Always follow a musical structure such as binary or ternary
- If you do not follow a structure, your music will sound unpleasant
- Instrument choice
- Always choose instruments that fit the genre
- Always check with yourself it every instrument fits into the overall composition
- If you are doing orchestral music, do not use synthetic bells or trap bass ._.
- Starting and Ending
- Always make sure the ending of your piece does not just cut of
- Always make sure the start of your piece does not just jump straight into the chorus (believe me some silly people do
this haha) because it will be very overwhelming for the listener
- Dynamics:
- Make sure your dynamics do not go over 0... because it will become distorted!
Those are my tips guys! please use this as a check! Feel free to comment if you have any questions!![Screen Shot 2018-04-22 at 8.11.50 PM.png]
