Track of the day, Oceans over Alderaan

in #music6 years ago

Oceans Over Alderaan are an atmospheric doom-pop band from Blackpool UK who combine shoegaze and post-rock elements to make a wholly fresh sound. Made from former members of Goonies Never Say Die, Escape Artist, Dinosaurs Are Shit Dragons the band have been together since Summer 2017 with Alice Deacon joining in February 2018

Starting off as an instrumental band but gradually evolving to include vocals. The first gig they ever played was in October 2017 at Preston Guild Hall supporting The Big Moon and Porter & May, a pretty big gig for a first performance but fuck it, if you want to do something go at it as big as you can. They have since played across the North West with the likes of Jekyll, Sonars, A Burial At Sea, Three Headed Monkey, Pipapo and Sœur.

SEVENFOUR is the bands debut single, recorded with Tom Peters of Alpha Male Tea Party and has received airplay on Radio X, DKFM, BBC Lancashire, Dandelion Radio, Flyde Coast Radio, ARFM, Lost In The Manor, Manchester Music Scene, Progwave Radio, Primal Radio, Merryn Music Feed, Indie XL and more.

Two songs were recorded during the session, the scond single FALTERS is due for release on 19th April

PRESS:
‘Displays a heavy-duty sound in an atmospheric implosive manner, Perfectly crafted and crisply produced ‘Sevenfour’ is a sublime debut’

  • Indie Buddie

‘What’s on display here is fantastic,it combines the best of shoegaze, doomrock, post-rock…call it what you will, it’s really very good indeed’

  • 17 Seconds

‘Veers between gothic and industrial sounds akin to The Cure and The Twilight Sad before blending this with more traditional post-rock and Alice Deacon’s shoegazey vocals. It’s an all-encompassing sound that you’d be foolish to ignore.

  • Spectral Nights

'The band definitely knows how to immerse their listeners in a crisp, clean and well-orchestrated environment. The soaring guitars and whispy vocals interlock perfectly with the bombastic rhythm section over the course of this broad, often challenging composition. There’s a lot talent on display from all of the band’s facets.'

  • Rock The Pigeon

‘A spellbinding mixture of effects-slathered guitars and reverb-immersed vocals, featuring lots of creative chord sequences and drum rhythms’
– Music Related Junk

‘A little Oceansize here and there and that’s not a bad thing’
– Wee Claire
