10 BEST MUSIC OF 2017
Music has undergone progressive changes since times past, and 2016 left us with the likes of sensational Adele's Send my love, Lukas Graham's 7 years and Justin Bieber's Sorry.

Here's bringing you the best music of the almost ending 2017, and my favourite parts of the lyrics:

  1. Stay by Alessia Cara and Zedd: Released in February this year. Favourite lyrics are:
"Guess I need you, and I need to
Make it on my own but I don't wanna grow up."
Yes, because we all want to fast-forward to the part of our lives where we can own a private jet without sweating, but don't intend to be consistently weighed down by the responsibilities of adulthood.

  2. Shape of you by Ed Sheeran: This song was released as early as January this year with a pretty confusing and non-correlating official video... Lol.
"We push and pull like a magnet do"

  3. I'm the one by DJ Khaled: Released as a single in April 2017, this song featured Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the rapper and Lil Wayne in DJ Khaled's studio album Grateful. The lyrics hold a piece of advice for our sisters who have locked the doors of love against their hearts:
"Don't let the only real one intimidate you."

  4. Something just like this by The Chainsmokers: Produced by our favourite DJ duo and Coldplay, this song was released in February as a single from the debut album, Memories... Do Not Open and Kaleidoscope. I especially love this song because it portrays the ordinary but beautiful kind of love we all want since we all can't be superheroes (if they exist).

  5. Heavy by Linkin Park and Kiiara: This baby right here was released in February as a single from their album, One More Light This song came in handy for me while I was experiencing some downs in school. Everything was just too heavy for this my small head to carry...😂 Every single lyric in this song carries a powerful meaning but my faves are:
    "Why is everything so heavy?
    Holding on
So much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down."

  6. Attention by Charlie Puth: Have a crazy attention seeker sit her butt down with the opening lyric to the chorus of this song, You just want attention which is a pretty crazy insult in Nigeria when translated to Yoruba. It was written by Charlie Puth and Jacob Kasher and released in April.

  7. Cold by Maroon 5: If people have ever acted so cold to you and you felt like you didn't know them anymore, this song is a perfective description of that event. I've loved Maroon 5 since them Payphone days- Yeah, who doesn't love that song? It was released in February as a single from their studio album Red Pill Blues It was never about the milk... Nope.
"Cold enough to chill my bones
It feels like I don't know you anymore."

  8. Gorgeous by Taylor Swift (my day one love): Also new, released in October as a promotional single from her album Reputation
    "You're so gorgeous
I can't say anything to your face."

  9. Man's Not Hot by Big Shaq: Man can never be hot baby, not even on the sun... Lol. It was released in September and was the first single from Big Shaq. To be frankly honest, I don't know what meaning the song conveys but its catchy lyrics and cool beat have trapped my heart. Dah thing go skrra, papa ka ka ka, skibidi... Whatever followed! And an additional fave:
    "Two plus two is four
Minus one, that's three, quick maths" Yeah... Who doesn't know that?

  10. All Falls Down by Alan Walker: This baby is pretty new since it was released this October. This music to me, possesses a dual characteristic because it has an intriguing dancehall beat and rather sad and depressing lyrics. Something you can listen to when you're on Cloud9 and Cloud1 (which you're gonna assume with me is the gloomy cloud). Favourite lyrics:
    "When it all falls down,
    I'll be fine!"
