Flux Capacitor- Set to Gravitate
There’s probably a little bias here, but I don’t care... I’ve watched these 3 Pennsylvania brothers grow for years now. They released their 4th album late in 2018 and it’s the best work they’ve ever done. Space jam, funk and electronics all bound by lyrics that are positive and uplifting, which can be rare these days.

Graveyard- Peace
This Swedish stoner rock band has broken up, got back together, replaced all members but one, broke up again, and got back together. Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting much from their new release. What I got was one solid slab of 70s fuzz rock. They sound angry yet confident. Here’s hoping they can stay together this time.
Khruangbin- Con Todo El Mundo
This Texas trio's official category on Allmusic is Alt-rock. Their music is almost all instrumental. They remind me of Causa Sui meets All Them Witches. It’s gotta be space rock. These guys are huge in the jam scene, yet they only seem to play festivals like Coachella. Their name means “airplane” in Thai. It's hard to describe the music...listen for yourself!
YOB- Our Raw Heart
YOB has long been a favorite of mine in the doom scene. When leader/guitarist Mike Scheidt had emergency surgery in 2017, no one knew if he would live or die. He wrote all these songs while lying in his hospital bed. The result is one of the most beautiful doom metal albums I’ve ever heard. It is creativity in its most desperate hour. Stunning.
The Breakfast- Phantasmagoria
When 3 members of the Breakfast went to form funk band Kung Fu, most people thought it would be a side project. It wasn’t. By the time Kung Fu released their 3rd album, most thought the Breakfast were done. Then out of nowhere, they release this. Kung Fu is lethal funk. The Breakfast is face melting guitar jam. It is easy to forget how much this band is sorely missed in the scene. Glorious.
