Synth Pop
Synthesizer pop was orginally a sub genre of new wave music[ that got started in the 1970ies using the new synthesizer as the dominating part of the music. The first real popular bands and artists include Depeche Mode, Ultravox or the Human League.
Some of my personal favourites of the early 80ies include Yazoo, Soft Cell and Visage.
