Best Way To Get Started - eMusicTalx

What's Good To Know And Why?

Whether, or not you play electronic music or organic instruments, like a guitar for example, then it might be a good idea to learn the musical language.
Although it is a good thing to know this, playing an organic instrument, I will be focusing entirely on electronic music.
But many actual instruments, such as piano, is a key element of understanding the fundamental tones of the different sequences, involved in the various rhythms associated with genres of all music in the world!

Sheets

Knowing how to play sheets is a cool thing.
You might not really need it for producing electronic music, but you sure as hell can use it for some nice things, in regards to tones.
Now if you have been working to read and understand the basic tones of a sheet, then you will be able to use that knowledge to make chords.
When you have reached the level of combining tones into chords, you will slowly begin to hear the differences, between the different chords.
This can help you come up with different chords easier than before (not knowing this), because you now know how to tell one sound from the other.
You are able to hear the chord and by that identifying what the name of the chord is, thus making it easy to just tap in the tone with a MIDI keyboard.
In a post, in the nearest future I will be teaching the basics of sheets and piano as well.

Exit The Comfortzone

It is cool to master a specific genre, but the best way to get started on something even cooler, would be competing with your self a bit.
Maybe make things a bit more interesting, by giving you self tasks like using only 3 samples in a track, try another genres or just experiment.
In the end of the day it is all about having a great understanding and perspective towards music as a whole.
This also goes for when you just listen to music, break the walls, listen to all kinds of music instead of just one kind of production or genre.

Be Real

You have to be real and ask your self why you make the kind of music you do, also why you are attracted to the music you like.
Never rush, learn from your mistakes and use the positive flow in whatever you do.
