Easily one of my favourite music videos ever conceived. This animation by Anthony Francisco Schepperd to Blockhead's great tune "The Music Scene" is an absolute mind melter. Set in a future where for reasons unknown humanity has disappeared, it asks the questions of what is the purpose of the things we create to serve us once we're gone?
In the video a lonely media machine wanders an abandoned city seeking purpose. It attempts to entertain the animals that still persist but they appear to remain ambivalent to it's presence and are seemingly incapable of distinguishing it's theatrics from white noise. In an angry flurry of psychedelic technicolour, the frustrated machine attempts to create itself purpose and liquidates the biological forms of the animals to create a new audience dedicated to absorbing it's product...
The animation in this video is absolutely amazing and flows beautifully from frame to frame. The artwork seems to be an expression of fluid dynamics and fits perfectly with the upbeat yet haunting tones of Blockhead. Give it a watch, it will absolutely melt your mind! Makes me ponder if in some way or another our machines will miss us when we're gone...
It's so great hey!
