Last February 14,my husband and I went on a valentine date and there was these Orchestra playing at the background while we are having dinner. Why does restaurant often play a soft and calming music??? I read an article once that one of the secret of a successful restaurants is music.

A study shows that people who dined with slow-tempo music underestimated their time, and people in the fast-tempo condition overestimated their time spent in the restaurant. The results from the above studies illustrate that background music has a significant influence on consumer behavior.

I was so intrigued by this little secret most restaurants are practicing. But honestly based on my experience that night indeed it was true. A calm music make a customer order more that hearing a rock or afast tempo music. So, next time you go to a fancy restaurant try to listen and observe is it will also work for you.
