It’s the weekend, so lets have something a bit light-hearted. We’re back to sisters. My focus today is on the Topp Twins, NZ’s (maybe the world’s) foremost twin, lesbian, comedic country and western musicians.
Lynda and Jools Topp were born in rural New Zealand, in 1958. So like me, they’re 60 this year. They’re known for their array of comedic characters, as well as their country music skills.
Here they are as the Gingham Sisters, with Slim Dusty’s When the Rain Tumbles Down In July
Next you get to see Lynda Topp’s specialty – yodelling. She’s very good, so even if you’re tempted to move right on by to the next one, at least watch up to 1:32. Here they are with Meet Me Mama:
A little yodelling goes a long way, I admit, and you probably feel like that was more than enough. But if you dare, watch at least the first half of this more recent video of the Twins attempting to teach New York to yodel. I was in such fits of laughter, I nearly fell off my chair.
If that wasn’t enough yodelling for you, or you’re just feeling nostalgic, check out @ravenruis’s kiwi nostalgia post from today and scroll down to the Yodelling Drover
Carrying on with the Topp Twins, this one isn’t musical, so you might choose to skip it. But it shows many of their characters in one skit, including Camp Mother & Camp Leader, and the Two Kens.
Their songs weren’t all comedic. Here’s my personal favourite, performed on TV in 1986, Untouchable Girls.
Even if I hadn't told you, I bet you could tell that was in the 80's...
They are still performing regularly. Mum saw them last year at the A&P show in Masterton, and said they were great. (That's what is probably called a country fair in other countries.)
New kiwi music @podycameron
Nothing new on the NZ Music Month website today, but here’s something even better. A new Steemian, Pody Cameron, from Christchurch, NZ, is releasing his new EP direct to the blockchain.
Before you pop over to his blog, check out one of his older tracks, Trust Games. Written by Pody, beat by Savaane.
Now, go give him some love for Drowning and follow him for more original kiwi music.
Thanks for listening

Yay so happy you featured Pody!
I just found him today because I went looking for you, and there he was!
Yay!! He is the first kiwi friend of mine to join Steemit so I am extra happy about it :D
Thanks @kiwideb and @kaykunoichi!
Its an honour to be recognised for my craft. Especially from right here in NZ. Many blessings to you both
