HOW TO COMPOSE A SONG IN 5 STEPS

Many musicians have great ideas in mind but do not know where to start composing. Here I show you 5 steps that always have helped me when composing a song.

1. Lyrics

First you must choose the theme of the song, what you want to talk about because that will depend on the feeling of the instrumental.

Generally I recommend writing in this structure: 2 verses - Precoro - Chorus and Bridge or interlude.

2. Make melody of the choir

From the melody of the choir we started to give shape to the rest of the song. It must be very catchy.

3. Choose the chords

The harmonic circle is the succession of chords, with which all instruments are to be assembled.

It is recommended the chords of the choir to be different from the verse and pre choirs. Generally in verses it is more basic and in the choir it is more harmonized.

4. Make an Intro and a Bridge.

You can use that intro at the beginning and also after the first chorus to go to the second verse and to finish the song. This gives some coherence to the structure of the song and is a bit predictable which is not bad to some extent because it is so nice to the ear and the brain and therefore people gonna like it.

The bridge or interlude is the part that makes the song evolve from the middle to the end.

This part for me is necessary because it brings a different element in the structure of the song so that it is not monotonous.

It can be a guitar solo, piano or just a different part of the song with different lyrics and different chords.

5. The final touch, that the last chorus has variations and perhaps a set of voices.

Basically we left the chorus that we had previously done and we began to decorate with voices and phrases, they can be sharp to give climax to the song.
