Cheap Trick with "Christmas Christmas"
Yes, this band still exists, you probably know them from the hit "I want you to want me". And they have a new album and well, as the title already says, it's a christmas album. And most songs have that typical Cheap Trick sound to it. So, time to "Rock The Balls" ;-)
It starts with "Merry Christmas Darlings" a fun rock song, of course with the oblitory christmas bells in it and all. But you can hear they had fun playing it.
"I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day", another fun rock song and somehow I can't help myself in singing along with it, good thing nobody hears it.
"I Wish It Was Christmas Today" a Ramones sounding like song. And again I'm singing along with it.
"Merry Xmas Everybody", well everybody knows that song already, it's from the Brititsh band Slade, and it sounds a lot like that, although with another voice of course. And yes, I'm singing along again. (my poor neighbours)
"Please Come Home For Christmas" a blues rock song and damn I like this song for some strange reason. Maybe I'm a blues fan after all.
"Remember Christmas" just a piano and some christmas bells and voice. Ok not really my thing, but still ok though.
"Run Rudolph Run", again a little Ramones sounding song, sounds pretty good and I bet nobody won't sing along with it.
"Father Christmas" a typical Cheap Trick sound in this song, sounds pretty cool. Yup, I'm still sining along.
"Silent NIght" a guitar and voice, that's all in this classic christmas song and I like it for some strange reason. Although I doubt this version will be played in churches.
"Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight Tonight)" a rock song, but I must admit the version once done by Joey Ramone is better, not that this version is bad, but still I prefer Joey's version.
"Our Father" a children's choir (I think) and keyboards and guitar, that's all. It's ok, but good thing there's a skip button on a cd-player.
"Christmas Christmas" the last song and it's a good up tempo rocking song, perfect ending to this christmas album.
In conclusion: a pretty decent christmas album and definitely a lot better then the majority of those balladesk shitty christmas songs you hear every year on the radio. Give it a go with this rocking album, you won't really be disappointed. Specially if you're a Cheap Trick fan, you should get this if you are.
