Multi-tag bandcamp searching for musicophiles and touring bands

in #music7 years ago

Bandcamp seems to have the largest selection of music available to sift through. Being a genre snob, I had always wanted to be able to perform multi-tag searches. Recently, I finally found a way to to this:

Camp Explorer

1. For the musicophile - Whether you love discovering new bands that combine multiple styles, or if you are looking to find more local music of a certain style so that you can enjoy more live music, multi-tag search is the way to go. After realizing that I could search for a city and a genre together, I was able to find several great bands in my area that I had never heard of, and would not have found otherwise.

2. For touring bands - After my first realization of the ability to find new local music, I then realized that this could be extremely useful to touring bands. Self-managed bands that plan tours themselves can use Camp Explorer to search for bands of certain genres by city along their tours. This should make planning tours exponentially easier, and will allow touring bands to really look forward to every lineup of every show on their tours.

Observed Limitations:
-Bands assign their own tags, so they are not always consistent with my snobby opinions.
-Uncommon tags don't seem to register with Camp Explorer.

After finding Camp Explorer, I also discovered a Chrome extension that accomplishes the same thing:

However, I have not tried the Chrome extension yet, mainly because I cannot use it on mobile (correct me if I'm wrong here).

Have you already discovered one of these multi-tag searches for bandcamp? If so, do you use it to find music of a certain genre in a certain area, or do you only use it for multi-genre searches?
