Industrial Music has helped me fight Depersonalization and Despair

in #music7 years ago

So glad I'm going to the Industrial summer festival! Really pumped! A few years back I was struggling with stress in life. Ran out of work, friendships fell apart, still dealing with my mom who has mental illness. I've had high anxiety all my life but I was starting to feel a worse impact at this turn of life. Got 'hives' on my hands, some on my body, couldn't sleep, started sweating in bed at night! I was a wreak. I was afraid I was losing myself and had those nothing emotions. Usually I'm enthusiastic even during hard times.

I re-discovered dark electronic music. Industrial. It is a fairly underground genre still. You try to figure out what the voices are trying to say in the shadows through the static. Many of these bands have killer lyrics. You know through the music and words you are not alone in alienation and feeling creeped out my culture under current social conditions. Listening to the music allowed me to 'feel' something without being anti-social about it. To be real with myself.

I could say allot more and probably will at a later date. For now I just want to mention some of the bands that have helped out when I hear their stuff in the last few years. Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Front Line Assembly, Front242, Assemblage 23, 2nd Face, 3TEETH and a few more. Some of them old and still going some of them new.

This is the Industrial festival I am going to Terminus - http://www.terminus-festival.com/

I'm stoked that 3TEETH and Assemblage 23 will be there!!

In the near future I will post about some of the bands and their newest projects and how to support them. Many are using crowdfunding to get their projects going. If you have a big enough fan base it can be done!
