I think it goes without saying that music is an essential part of life. Hearing is one of our five primary senses and one of the key ways in which we perceive the world around us. From a scientific point of view sound comprises of waves of vibrations.
Music is needed by people, at a basic level even clapping could be considered. Imagine early man hitting together sticks and rocks against different surfaces to produce different types of sounds. This could have been followed up by chanting. It works on many levels, even therapeutic. Today, alternative healing methods such as sound therapy exist which have built up on these historic practices. On a more daily level, imagine listening to your favourite song and feeling better.
Different cultures from around the world (and individuals) all have their idea of music they like, or what sound pleases them. I really like listening to different styles, common and strange.
I think this mix is great for a sunny Saturday morning. A history of Japanese vinyls
