RE: Music Production Software: My path from past to present

in #music8 years ago

Thanks for this super interesting in-depth post. I've been a music tech enthusiast since the mid-eighties, but never got into the trackers back then. I was combining keyboards via midi and using hardware sequencers (mostly 2 Alesis MMT-8's ganged together) until Digital Performer came out with their audio+midi DAW. That was mind blowing for me at the time.

Since then I have used numerous DAWs, but now have settled into Logic Pro, (which changed dramatically since Apple bought Emagic). I remember trying Emagic's Logic back then and had the same initial experience as you.

I also use Native Instruments Komplete, and love those tools. I also use Sylenth. And now I'm going to check into Glitch and see why you like it :)

I was only dreaming of hardware synths in the early days :)

The first version of Glitch is a freeware multi effect, unfortunately only for Windows I believe and it's 32bit. Glitch 2 is more advanced, compatible with OSX but not freeware. Anyway you can get both from here: http://illformed.org

Thanks @mume ! I downloaded the demo and will buy it if I like it. I'll mess around with it when I get some time. It looks super interesting.
