At the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century, the StereoPhonics band formed in Cwmaman, in the Country of Wales, belonging to the United Kingdom.
It was the year 1992 when the musicians Stuart Cable and Javier Weyler come together to form a group which in principle they put the name of "Tragic Love Company", a name which arose from the union of several groups of which they were followers. Their musical genre is rock and alternative rock, although they have also done some britpop style songs.
A short time later, both musicians went one day to see Cable's grandmother, who had a very old gramophone. For some reason, they were called by the name of the same one, and then they decided to change the name they had given to the group at the time of its creation for the one that had that device.
In the year 1996, the group sends its first single, to which it puts the name of "Looks Like Chaplin", and that was published a little later. This single did not get a great start, much less the success that was expected, since in fact it did not get to enter any musical list.
*"Some time later the band began to make several tours, opening for bands like Manic "Street Preachers" and "Ocean Color Scene".*
In 1997, the band released their first album, which was called "Word Gets Around", and with which they began to be known in the music scene.
In the course of the year 1998, the group releases the album "Performance and Cocktails", from which different singles are extracted which reached very good musical heights and they reported a great recognition in the musical panorama.
In 1998, they released their single "Local Boy in the Photograph", with which the group began to reap its first big hits, achieving the "Brit Award for Best New Group", in addition to selling just over 100,000 copies of this same title. They toured the disc in different parts of the world, such as Australia and Europe and, obviously, the United States.
Another of the singles extracted from his second album was the song "The Bartender and the Thief", with which the group reached the platinum record, being one of the best sellers that year in the United Kingdom.
A year later the band performs a tremendous concert at the "Morfa Stadium in Swansea", in front of more than 50000 people, who cheered and cheered the songs.
After a small break, in 2001 the band released a new LP, which would be called "Just Enough Education to Perform", and would again achieve the number 1 in sales in the United Kingdom.
With this album they made some concerts, being among them the most sounded those that realized in the "Donington Park" and "Millennium Stadium of Cardiff", being besides opening of other well-known bands like "Black Crowes" or "Proud Mary".
It was the year 2003 when the band released its fourth publication, called in this case "You Gotta Go There To Come Back", and subsequently performing various concerts from within the United Kingdom.
During years 2003 and 2004, the band began to realize diverse concerts and appearances in some festivales, as it is the case of "Manchester Move".
Two years later one of the songs of this album "High as the Ceiling", was included in the announcement of the automobile company Nissan for the presentation of a new vehicle of the same.
This same year the band releases their fifth LP, which is titled "Language, Sex, Violence, Other?". Of the same, they extracted the simple one "Dakota", which was a success from the first moment, becoming the number one almost from the p'rincipio of its publication, at the same time that it became the original soundtrack of the videojuego of sports FIFA'06.
In 2005, the group played on "Live 8", reciting their songs in front of the largest audience they had ever had before.
Another song from this album "Maybe tomorrow" was also used as the soundtrack for the films "Wicker Park" and "Crash".
The group has been the opening act for such important groups as "U2" and "Rolling Stones".
During the edition of the video game "" Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 ", it was decided to include two of the group's songs in it:" Dakota "and" A thousand trees "
On June 7, 2010, the group's original drummer, Steuart Cable, was found dead at his home in Aberdare.
In 2011, it was reported that the group was soon to launch a new album, which arrived at the end of 2012 with the name "Graffiti on the train".
The effect of such lurches, however, does not disturb the core creator of Stereophonics: "All our albums have sold more than a million copies, but each one is different and arrives at the time. losing fans and others are winning with each record, it's a logical evolution. "
