Well, It's not new that all the stars and pop singers write songs from their past experiences. We often dance to the songs, mumble the lyrics and sing them in the bathroom. We play our favourite songs in the car, in the office, in the room. But do we even know what the artist intended? What's the story hidden behind the words?
One such song is Drake's in my feelings. We all have been doing The Kiki challenge, dancing to it, referring our girl as Kiki and asking them if she loves us. But do we even know who the fuck is KiKi? Well, that's gonna be covered in my other blog post. This blog is unveiling the history behind Rihana's Unfaithful song.
The song is a slow ballad very different from Rihanna's earlier work, addresses the feelings of guilt a girl faces as she cheats on her boyfriend. She said in the interviews that not only do men cheat, women cheat also. "Unfaithful" is all about a girl cheating on her boyfriend which was based on Rihanna's relationship when she was 14 years old.
Rihana is referred to as a murderer in the song. This is because she is taking the guy's life by hurting him. The guy knows that he is being cheated, and it f**king hurts him to the core. This song also breaks the cliche of that time, when men as general were tagged as cheaters and liars. This song was unconventional and poured some light on the fact that cheating is not limited to gender, and women are not always innocent in a relationship. It could be seen as a strong and powerful message breaking all the stereotypes and cliches. Why do stereotypes exist at first place? Comment in the section what you think about we all having stereotypes.
In an Interview, Rihana also made a statement that the song originated out of a relationship when she was fourteen. It was not physical though, she stated.
The song was originally titled as "Murderer" but then later was named as unfaithful. It resembles the works of a rock band Evanescence.
